Do you love Mr. Billy Gates, Is he your hero?
Do you hate him, do you rather burn in hell than pay for software? …. read on anyways
Here is a brief history of the worlds most used operating system. Yes! i know Linux is better (I’m witting on Ubunt)
there are some pictures and some info about them. Read them it will make your day.
So everything started with “Windows 1.o”

It was the first graphical interface NOT! Yes, we all know that windows stole the GUI from apple What most of you don’t know its that apple “stole” it from Xerox (do a search on “the first GUI” if you dont belive me) anyway. This bastard came in 5.25 inch floppies, ten of them to be exact. That comes up to a whooping 1.07Mb if my math its correct (and if i remember correctly each one of those used to hold about 110 kb of data). That represents about a 0.03% of windows vista. Windows 1.0 fits 3287.85 times into vista. On the bright side, on those days one “Hard disk” measured 5.25 inches and could hold 110 Kb. Nowadays on a DL-DVD witch its just over 4.5 inches you could store up to 8.5! Yup 8.5GB a in 8704MB and 8,912,896 Kb. Witch means you can fit 81,026 5.25 floppies in one single DVD. (could you imagine back in the day?)
Then Win 2.o Came along

Windows 2.0 mayor improvement over it’s predecessor was the introduction of overlapping windows …. theres not much to comment there. maybe a slight increase in graphic quality and a slightly friendlier interface.
Windows 3.0

Sigh, heres where everything went right/wrong (depending on witch side of the spectrum you stand) . This was the first version of MS windows that sold like pancakes. Devastating earthing else in its path. (sorry mackintosh, sorry Amiga, You both got your asses kicked by Microsoft, Get over it!) This versions mayor improvements were a redesigned and better user interface (better graphics) and the ability to multi task that we all know and love :). (also it was the first windows with solitaire)
Windows NT 3.1

On my opinion this its not even a OS (operating system) but a regular application progra since in order to run it you had to first install MS-DOS and then open it, you could also close it like a regular app and return to dos whenever you felt like it. This one i hold special because it was the first NT witch means that it was the first one that had the kind of portability that we see today and also it was the first Win-32 system.
Win 95

Everybody that complains about vista should run Win95, YES! we are aware that Microsoft screwed up with vista, run Win95 for a couple of days and you wont see your shinning new OS that bad, besides everyone that really needs to something in a PC runs either WINXP or Linux. Back to our subject. This was on my humble opinion the first “Successfully” operating system from Microsoft. (WTF is wrong with me i just used the words successful and Microsoft in the same phrase) I say so not because the system its any better than XP,but because it was good enought for the era and it accomplished what the customers demanded (sort of)
Win 98

With this version Microsoft used one of the most successful marketing strategies. Get something that kind of sold, change the name to a newer year introduce 2 or 3 “features” and raise the price. Like its predecessor its 16/32 so i guess we’ll call it a hybrid. Its however one of my favorites because of this story (quote from Wikipedia)
” The release of Windows 98 was preceded by a notable press demonstration at Comdex in April 1998. Microsoft CEO Bill Gates was highlighting the operating system’s ease of use and enhanced support for Plug and Play (PnP). However, when program manager Chris Capossela plugged a scanner in and attempted to install it, the operating system crashed, displaying a Blue Screen of Death.[4]
Gates remarked after a nervous silence “That must be why we’re not shipping Windows 98 yet.” Video footage of this event became a popular Internet phenomenon.”
Yup! Win 98 Started the BSOD paranoia!
Windows Me

Having said what i just did about win 98 theres not much for Win ME except its more of the same. I think its feeling already have been hurt enough and its got some serious self-esteem problems. so ….. no comment
WIN XP

Seriously, How much do you guys hate the default theme in XP? let me know in your comments, also i will apreciate pics of your desktops (i will post mine in first comment) XP, its my lover, XP is my friend in its arms i feel confident that no driver will be missing, no device will fail and even thought it has more security flaws than an open safe in a flea market, theres nothing that a good anti virus can’t fix (i recommend avast, not because its free but because its good and does not cause a lot of overhead) Windows XP its the next best thing to Linux for serious work or the BEST thing for gaming. (i will be glad to explain why to vista users and Linux fan boys) Yes i know about the latest direct X and i have also realized that Windows XP will be going away soon since most PC manufacturers are ONLY releasing DRIVERS for VISTA, and that sucks. But thats the US market, deal with it (like i do)
Vista

The first thing i want to say its Thank you for reading this far. I appreciate it. I don’t really want to say anything about this OS because its controversial and i want the comments on this post to be constructive and educative and not to look like “the chans” so i will simply quote my fellow blogger “Stephen Manes” on Forbes.com
“Windows Vista: more than five years in the making, more than 50 million lines of code. The result? A vista slightly more inspiring than the one over the town dump. The new slogan is: “The ‘Wow’ Starts Now,” and Microsoft touts new features, many filched shamelessly from Apple’s Macintosh. But as with every previous version, there’s no wow here, not even in ironic quotes. Vista is at best mildly annoying and at worst makes you want to rush to Redmond, Wash. and rip somebody’s liver out.”
